1. Who we are and what this policy covers
Cadence is operated by Battise Built, a business based in Los Angeles, California, United States ("Battise Built," "we," "us," or "our"). Contact us at support@battisebuilt.com.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the Cadence mobile app and the Cadence websites, onboarding experiences, and support services that link to this policy. It does not cover unrelated Battise Built products or third-party websites with their own privacy notices.
2. Information you provide
Account information. We process your email address, account identifier, sign-in requests, and authentication information to create and maintain your account. Cadence uses Supabase for authentication. The iOS app stores sign-in credentials and pending sign-in or purchase links in the device Keychain. Treat sign-in and purchase-redemption links as private credentials.
Information you enter in the app. Depending on the features you use, this can include your optional name, region, timezone, smoking or vaping baseline, purchases and costs, goals, personal reasons for change, use records, cravings, triggers, reflections and journal entries, coping plans, tool feedback, lesson progress, saved quotes, favorites, and reminder preferences. Some of this information can reveal details about your health or habits.
In the current app, these personal activity records are stored on your device in a profile associated with your account. They are not automatically uploaded to Supabase, RevenueCat, or the Cadence website. Account authentication and subscription information are processed separately, as described below. Information that you deliberately send to support or share outside the app is no longer solely on your device.
Website quiz responses. In the current Cadence quiz, answers are used in your browser to display your results. They are not saved to your account, sent to advertising services, or transferred into the app. Leaving or refreshing the quiz may discard them. Limited website events and purchase information are separate from your quiz answers.
Purchases. The checkout provider collects information needed to complete a purchase, such as billing email, payment details, billing address when required, and transaction information. Cadence uses RevenueCat to manage subscription access and RevenueCat Billing with Stripe to process web payments. We receive information such as customer and transaction identifiers, the purchased plan, payment or trial status, renewal information, and billing email where provided. Our app and application servers do not receive your full payment-card number or security code. If a purchase is offered through an app store, that store handles the payment under its own policies.
Support. If you contact us, we receive your email address, message, and attachments you choose to provide. Include only information needed to explain the issue. Do not send passwords, sign-in links, redemption links, verification codes, or full payment-card details.
3. Technical information and website technologies
Our hosting, authentication, and billing providers process technical information needed to deliver and secure their services. This may include IP addresses, request times, browser or device information, operating-system or app versions, security events, and service errors.
Cadence web services use essential cookies or similar storage for functions such as authentication, security, remembering privacy choices, and maintaining a consistent offer or checkout session. Essential offer identifiers do not contain your quiz answers.
Where optional website analytics are available, they operate only after you choose to allow them. These analytics can record permitted page or funnel events, approximate event times, pseudonymous visitor or account identifiers, offer versions, and neutral campaign identifiers. They do not include raw quiz answers, journals, cravings, free-text responses, or sign-in and payment-redemption links. You can change optional choices through the website's Privacy choices control. Disabling optional analytics does not prevent a purchase or use of the app.
The release covered by this policy does not use advertising pixels, remarketing, or advertising conversion integrations. We do not sell personal information, or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising. We do not send personal activity records or quiz answers to advertising platforms. Before introducing any advertising-data sharing, we will update the relevant notices, provide required choices, and obtain any consent required by law. Running an advertisement that links to Cadence does not, by itself, require enabling these integrations.
We honor applicable opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control, for activities to which those signals apply. Browser Do Not Track signals do not have a uniform implementation standard; we do not apply a separate response to those signals beyond the choices described here. External checkout and other third-party services may use their own essential technologies; their notices explain their practices.
4. How information is used
We use information to provide the features you request; authenticate you; connect purchases with subscription access; process and manage billing; respond to support and privacy requests; remember settings; prevent fraud and unauthorized access; maintain the service; and meet legal obligations.
The app uses your locally stored records to display progress, provide reminders you enable, and help you review your goals, lessons, and coping strategies. Optional website analytics, when enabled with your choice, help us understand and improve the website experience. We do not use your journal entries, cravings, or other personal activity records to train third-party AI models.
5. When information is disclosed
Service providers. We use providers for authentication and database services (Supabase), subscription management and web checkout (RevenueCat), payment processing (Stripe), and website hosting and support communications. They receive the information needed for the services they provide. We require providers processing information on our behalf to protect it through appropriate contractual and security obligations, including protections consistent with this policy. Payment providers and app stores may also process information independently for fraud prevention, compliance, or their own account services.
Your choices. If you use a system share feature or send information to another person or service, the recipient receives what you choose to share. Review the content before sending it.
Legal and safety purposes. We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, investigate fraud, address security incidents, or respond to lawful requests. We limit these disclosures to what is appropriate for the purpose.
Business changes. If the service is transferred through a sale, merger, or similar transaction, relevant information may be transferred subject to applicable law and continuing privacy protections. We will provide notice and obtain consent when required. This provision does not authorize a sale of consumer health data contrary to applicable law.
6. Storage, security, and retention
The iOS app uses operating-system file protection for its local activity file and excludes that file from device backups. The current app does not provide cloud synchronization or guaranteed recovery of these records. Deleting the app, clearing local data, losing your device, or changing devices may permanently remove or leave behind your history. Signing in on another device does not restore locally stored activity history.
Local activity records remain on the device until you remove them, the app is removed, or device storage is erased. Signing out does not itself erase the local profile. We cannot remotely retrieve or erase records that exist only on an offline device.
We keep account information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. We retain billing, support, security, and legal records only for as long as needed for their purposes, including applicable tax and accounting obligations, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and legal requirements. Retention depends on the record, the purpose, applicable requirements, and whether a dispute or legal preservation obligation exists. Information in provider backups may remain until those backups expire under the applicable retention process and is not used for ordinary service purposes after deletion.
We use reasonable safeguards, but no device, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. We will provide notices of security incidents when required by applicable law.
7. Your choices and requests
Local records. You can edit records where the app provides an editing control. Use Settings > Local data > Clear all local data to remove the current profile's locally stored records and scheduled reminders. This cannot be undone.
Account and privacy requests. Email support@battisebuilt.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold. You can also contact us about withdrawing consent, receiving an available copy of your information, objecting to or restricting processing, or exercising other rights that apply where you live. Some requests have legal exceptions. For information stored only on your device, we will explain the relevant device controls rather than claim to hold a server copy.
We may ask for information reasonably needed to verify ownership and protect your account. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and explain any permitted refusal or extension. Where an appeal right applies, email the same address with "Privacy appeal" in the subject. You may also contact your relevant privacy regulator. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
Deleting an account, clearing local data, and cancelling a subscription are separate actions. An account-deletion request does not itself cancel billing. Use your purchase-management link or the applicable app-store subscription controls to cancel. If you want help with both account deletion and cancellation, tell support explicitly. Deletion may be subject to limited retention required by law, and we will explain applicable exceptions.
Reminders. Change reminder preferences in the app or notification permissions in iOS Settings. Optional website analytics can be changed using the website's Privacy choices control where available.
8. Adults, locations, and external services
Cadence is intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly offer accounts to or collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Battise Built operates from the United States. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where legally required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers. This statement is not a waiver of privacy rights in your location.
Links to independent resources, payment services, or app stores lead to services with their own privacy policies. Review those policies before providing information.
9. Updates and contact
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice of material changes as required by law. Where a new use requires consent, we will request it before that use begins. Publishing an updated policy alone is not consent to a new use of health information.
